01About this compound

What NAD+ is

NAD+ is not a peptide. It is a coenzyme every living cell carries, and it does two jobs at once: it shuttles electrons through energy metabolism, and it is consumed as a substrate by the sirtuin and PARP enzyme families. That second role is why a molecule catalogued since 1906 became a longevity research subject a century later, because it is the point where a cell's energy state and its ageing machinery meet the same molecule.

Longevity

Sirtuin signalling

Serves as substrate for sirtuins in cellular-aging research models. All seven mammalian sirtuins require it, and unlike an ordinary cofactor it is consumed rather than recycled, which is why availability itself becomes the variable under study.

    Bioenergetics

    Redox metabolism

The central NAD+/NADH couple, studied in energy-metabolism endpoints. It carries electrons through glycolysis, the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation, so the ratio between its two forms reports on the cell's energy state.

      Cellular

      PARP and DNA repair

Consumed by PARP enzymes during DNA damage response, which puts repair activity and sirtuin activity in competition for the same finite pool. That competition is a recurring theme in the ageing literature.

This material is supplied as a reference standard for in-vitro laboratory research only. It has not been evaluated by the FDA, is not a drug, and is not intended for human or veterinary use. Handling should follow your institution's chemical hygiene plan, including appropriate PPE and documented disposal.

Every lot is documented at 99%+ by RP-HPLC with identity confirmed by LC-MS, run by an independent laboratory. Released lots have measured between 99.4% and 99.97%; the figure for the lot you receive is in the certificate table above.

Yes. Every lot ships with its own signed certificate, and all eight are published in the COA library, including for lots no longer in stock.

A single 1000mg vial. Certificates on file cover 100mg, 500mg and 1000mg lots from the same production, because the archive records what the laboratory tested rather than only what is currently listed.

It does not have one. NAD+ is not a peptide — it is a dinucleotide coenzyme, two nucleotides joined through their phosphate groups, with no amino acids and therefore no sequence. It sits in this catalogue because it is researched alongside these compounds, not because it shares their chemistry. Identity is confirmed lot-by-lot by LC-MS against a certified reference standard, which is what the certificate reports.

Because the sirtuin enzymes credited with much of the effect of caloric restriction cannot function without it, and because it is consumed rather than recycled in that reaction. That makes its availability a limiting factor, which is the property the literature keeps returning to.

Store the sealed vial at −20°C for long-term stability. It is hygroscopic and light-sensitive, so protect from light and moisture, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles once in solution.
